Description
This is a great 3 seasons hat! Our Tec-Wool hat uses c_change by Schoeller Switzerland technology membrane to ensure constant comfort. What is c_change technology? Much like a pinecone, the c_change technology membrane opens when the outside temperature rises, and close again when the temperature drops.

Before last year, I was not a hat wearer. I was brought up in the 70's and 80's when men's hats were not popular outside the ubiquitous baseball cap. I borrowed my father's Tilley a year ago while on a fishing trip in Mexico to protect my head from the blazing sun, and realized how nice a good hat was in avoiding getting cooked. That summer I bought a LTM6 for myself, and was truly impressed by the function and quality of Tilley's summer hats. When I discovered that Tilley made winter hats, I needed to give one a try.The Tec-Wool hat is a step up in dressiness from your typical stocking cap. However, it is not as formal as a dress hat. It wouldn't look out of place with a suit and overcoat, yet it goes well with my wool pea coat in more casual situations. It does a fine job of keeping your head warm, and as Tilley claims, the Tec-Wool breathes when your head warms up. I've not had to take the hat off when I take my morning walks due to an overheated head. The ear flaps are wonderful--a feature that you'll really appreciate when it's really nasty out. On less brutal days, you can stuff them up and out of the way. Interestingly, Tilley added a strip of fabric that attaches to the the back of the headband with velcro that can be removed to give you a tad more room when the ear flaps are tucked up and not in use. (It can be stowed in the discrete compartment in the top of the hat when not in use.)The main reason I like this winter hat so much is the function of the brim. It does a nice job of keeping rain and snow off your face and neck--something my usual winter stocking cap can't do. It also helps deflect wind from those areas, too. The fabric repels precipitation nicely--I've not had a wet head even on rainy days. The build quality is typical of Tilley--it will last a long, long time if you take care of it. My only criticism of the hat is that I wish it was a tad stiffer--the front of the crown can occasionally have a few wrinkles if you don't put it on just right. Also, a really strong wind will flip the brim up. However, I believe the concept of the hat is that you can flatten it if needed to stow away and not worry about ruining it.Tilley's aren't cheap, but you definitely get a quality hat for your money. Check out the reviews and you'll see that they have a loyal following. What I like about this hat is you can wear it in a car or sit in your recliner with your head resting back. For that reason it is my favorite hat. I like the ear warmers and the pocket in it too. It is not quite as comfortable as my Shannon Philips hat which is the most comfortable of all my hats. Things I don't like about this hat is it was to small. I used a hat stretcher on it 3 times and got it to fit better now. I would have returned it for the next size up, but that would be double the price. As much as I like this hat, I wouldn't pay $104 for it. It's a great $50 hat though. It has some wrinkles that will never come out. The left side of the brim is always a little higher than the right side. If I have a coseup picture taken with my hat on it makes my whole face look lopsided. Someone else may not have that same problem with their hat. All in all I do like the hat. I would recommend this hat, but not at at a hundred dollars or more. This is my honest review of this hat after two months. On a cold morning in the Rockies, this hat kept the snow off of my head, face, and glasses, as I'd hoped. It kept my ears warm but was not as warm for my head as I'd hoped. For our climate I probably need a lined hat because I could definitely feel the cold and it was not as warm as my thicker, beanie-type fleece-lined wool cap. For me this will be a fall and spring hat, but it's not warm enough for our winters. The quality of the hat is very high -- the construction and materials are top-notch.Great hat, as all Tilleys are. I was disappointed in the packaging. It was a $100 hat stuffed in a plastic envelope/bag.Husband loves hat but can’t get wrinkles outI set out to find a winter hat to brave a long daily walk in the Michigan cold. What I found was this Tilley Endurable Tec-Wool hat. I was dubious as it really didnt fit what I was picturing I needed.. (a furry Russian type hat). The reviews however were fanatical, and I liked the style. The quality of the hat, the attention to detail, and the pride of the company that made it are obvious. Most importantly.. its the warmest most comfortable hat I have ever worn into the cold. I honestly cannot recommend it enough to anyone who has to brave the cold. This is my second Tiley hat, and I am completely satisfied. My first tiley hat was TH5 which I bought before this summer. It kept me cool during hot and humid summer. I washed it so many times, but it did not show any sign of wear.Based on that good experience, I bought Tec-Wool hat for cold winter. The other day, I played golf with it and as I expecged, it kept me warm. When I went Christmas shopping with it, one shop attendant told me that he liked my hat.My husband has another Tilley hat that he was measured for. I bought the same size in this one and it fit perfectly. He loves it. I like the look as it's not a flat black and looks more like a black/very dark gray cast wool.. Holds it's shape and looks great on. Shipping was just as promised and it was packaged very well - no crushing.Good fitVery smart.Bought ready for golf in Autumn/ Winter as i was in the mood!Very happy and think rain resistance will be very good. I was worried about the size after long search, but turned out to be perfect. Quality seems to be a true "Tilley" quality, but the Tilley hat i bought for summer doesn't seem same quality, no idea why, but this winter hat was very good.Fits perfectly. Protects against cold, rain and wind (stays on well). Earflaps are not very efficient (they blow off your ears when there is a cold wind, losing their purpose). During long heavy rain or snow, the fabric will eventually soak up water, but the hat still protects your face. Most importantly: it looks very good. The medium brim (and smaller size, I wear 7) is very suited for women! Can never go wrong with a TILLEY ! ?
