Never had a so called "Bucket Hat" but I have other Tilley hats and love the quality and design. The T1 is much more than a bucket hat and I like it so much I look forward to going outside just to put it on. I did go up one size as recommended by others and glad I did, just hoping there is no shrinkage when it gets washed. It just feels so natural on my head and provides great sun protection for the ears, upper neck and face. I originally order the Natural color which was nice but just not for me, however the Green is perfect. I've already wore it in the rain and kept my head dry and once back inside the house the hat dried without any water marks or stains. Yes, it does cost more than other imported products but attention to detail that went in to making this hat is worth the extra cost. Highly recommend.Not a lightweight hat for super hot temperatures as it is heavy and well made. For me it ran small and I had to size up 2 sizes. I love it.Not much to add beyond the headline! It is flattering and obviously high quality.The Tilley T1 is a great all around summer hat. It is lightweight and has just enough brim to be totally effective. I took the advice of other reviewers and bought it a size larger than I felt that I needed and am totally happy with the purchase.My hat was a smidge too large. I contacted the seller who was very helpful and mailed some foam pads to adjust the fit. Also, the hat is of excellent quality.My husband has little smaller head so usually regular hat doesn't fit well but this has size choices so fits well.The hat looks great and fits perfectly.After the first wash product shrunk. Also shape changed. It looks different. This was not what advertised.I have owned a Tilley T3 for 22 years and it has been to 25 countries and still has many years left in it.It is only just now that I have wanted a hat that looks more urban and informal rather than a trekking/ bush hat. The Tilley T1 isn't really a bucket hat as the brim is a little wider than a bucket hat. It also has a back and front cord to stop it coming off in strong wind like the T3 which can be hidden in the crown with a pocket also inside the crown for stashing stuff. It fits as expected and whilst it may seem a little pricey consider it will last a life time and it seems much better valueI have about six Tilley hats of different kinds, and they are all excellent in their own way. This one is a great casual but smart bucket hat that protects from the sun but the shape of the brim makes it easier to wear in a high back seat like in the car.But the usual TIlley high quality are definitely present.
